ABOUT JANE V. TILLMAN
I have over twelve years of experience providing counseling for
children, adolescents, adults and families in mental health agencies and private
practice settings. My style is warm, compassionate, solution-focused
and direct. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior
Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Expressive Art & Play
Therapy and Family Systems.
I am deeply committed to my work in supporting and encouraging
people of all ages and walks of life in their process of healing
from: depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma and stress,
attention-deficits, impulsivity, addiction, mood swings, relationship
conflicts, parent-child issues, adoption and attachment issues,
physical and sexual abuse issues, and self-harming behavior in
teens and young adults.
ABOUT EXPRESSIVE HEARTS
What I have found is that many of us become so driven
by the external
demands and expectations
in life that we lose sight of our most meaningful connection
of all: to our hearts (center, widsom, compassion). In
my work, one of the questions people seem to struggle with the
most is: "What do I want or need
to feel happy and satisfied in life?
Although I believe "reason" to be a
powerful and important element of our happiness and success, when we stop
listening to our hearts we become lost. Much
of my work is about encouraging people to deepen
their awareness and compassion within, and to assist
individuals in achieving a greater balance between "mind, body and heart" when meeting the possibilities
and challenges of every day life.
The name "Expressive Hearts" was originally inspired
by my work leading expressive art groups for disadvantaged youth in the Seattle area.
I found that I spent much of my energy encouraging and supporting
kids to learn how to experience and express their thoughts and feelings in a compassionate and meaningful way. Art has a soothing and healing quality to it. Art temporarily suspends our thoughts and emotions which allows us to experience that calm, centered, peaceful and compassionate place within... our hearts.
